LGBTQ+ 101 starts with the basics of sexual orientation and gender identities, then digs into the nuances of identity, social norms, and allyship. Based on the needs of your organization the focus can be on best practices for supporting employees and how employees can support each other, best practices for supporting your customers, or both.
How can you support an employee coming out and beginning their social transition? One way is to shift the labor of educating co-workers from them to someone who has already been there. I will only do this package with full consent and in collaboration with the person coming out. Coming Out Support is customizable to fit the needs of the employee and can include:
A LGBTQ+ 101 workshop for immediate co-workers geared towards affirming and supporting each other’s identities
A private coming out plan workshop where the employee is empowered to create a plan that allows them to come out on their own terms.
A private workshop with the employee focused on boundaries, communication, and accessing community resources
